Search for Sandy High Principal Begins

April 1, 2013

Tim Werner’s tenure as the principal of Sandy High School will come to an end
this year as the culmination of a two-year plan by the Oregon Trail School
District to help transition the school into a new building.

The district will now begin the process of finding a new principal for the
school, while Werner will remain at the post through the end of the year.

District Communications Director Julia Monteith noted a search committee
comprised of district staff will be formed to find a new principal, with the
committee expected to begin reviewing applications on April 2.

The new principal is expected to start work on July 1, while there is no defined
period of time span for the position this time, like Werner.

“We would hope to fill it with somebody who’s here for the long term,” said
Monteith.

Werner previously was the principal at Boring Middle School before he became
principal at the high school in 2011, when then-principal Aaron Bayer was
hired as the district’s superintendent.

Werner will return as the principal at BMS after this school year.

“Tim has been a respected and valued leader in Oregon Trail for many years
and was doing an outstanding job at Boring Middle,” said Bayer in a press
release. “We needed an administrator of his caliber for the two-year transition
period, and I’m grateful he accepted the challenge. He leaves Sandy High in a
good position moving forward.”
