Tree Leaves Impression at Local Restaurant
December 2, 2010

November will be best remembered by the pre-Thanksgiving snow storm, but
the mid-month wind event got all of Tom Anderson’s attention.
Anderson, the owner of the Rendezvous, was notified the morning of Nov. 16
by a cook that his restaurant had taken a hit.
A 70-foot alder tree had snapped off about 10 feet above the ground and
came crashing down on the back side of the Rendezvous during the night,
busting a stud, crumbling dry wall and breaking a window.
“The alder hit the roof, but surprisingly, there was little damage to the inside
of the restaurant,” Anderson said. “The building took the hit pretty well.”
The 24-inch diameter alder snapped again when it hit the roof, preventing
much more serious damage.
A couple days later Klobas O’Neil Roofing workers were removing composite
off the roof and repairing the dry wall, according to Anderson.
The Rendezvous didn’t miss a beat, remaining open despite the arboreal
intrusion.
